Chicago Sun-Times Endorses Lawless

October 18, 2010 by

On October 17, 2010, the Chicago Sun-Times published the following endorsement:

1st District (West Side, west suburbs): Ronald Lawless of the Green Party is an impressive candidate with a long list of civic accomplishments who would bring fresh ideas and energy to the board. Incumbent Democrat Earlean Collins, after a controversial “present” vote last year that killed an effort to repeal the disastrous county penny-on-the-dollar sales tax increase, said, “You want to vote me out of office? Hooray. I would just love to go home for once in my life and relax.”  We’re happy to accommodate her. We endorse Lawless.

Tribune Endorses Ron Lawless for Cook County Commissioner

October 6, 2010 by

On October 5, 2010, The Chicago Tribune published the following endorsement:

1st District (West Side, west suburbs): Twelve years ago, this page endorsed Austin neighborhood native Ronald Lawless, an educational consultant, over six other candidates vying to replace Earlean Collins in the Illinois Senate. Lawless didn’t prevail then, but we hope he now retires Collins from the County Board. Collins has been increasingly stressed and distracted, notoriously moaning “Let us have some peace!” last year because so many constituents were complaining to her about high county taxation. In 2006, we endorsed Collins, saying we hoped she would help reform this slipshod government. The Tribune now endorses Lawless, a Green Party candidate who would be the consistent reform vote that Collins has failed to be.

Campaign Takes a Turn

September 30, 2010 by

The campaign for Cook County Commissioner has turned ugly. Opponents began tearing down our outside campaign signs almost as soon as we posted them. Unfortunately, we will have to plan for thefts of yard signs and work harder to make sure our message for change is heard.

Therefore, we are launching the Imagine the Possibility Fund. This fund is focused on pressing forward despite actions of our opponent. We want to show that grassroots donations have the power to overcome the usual political tricks. Here’s the plan: Our goal is 1000 small donations to be used exclusively for yard signs, store posters, billboards, and mass media messages. We are looking for one big push within the next week to raise $5,000.Time is essential and if we all work together, we can make sure everyone knows there is a real alternative.

The party bosses want to keep this election quiet and we have to fight back. Will you please chip in $5 to the Imagine the Possibility Fund today — and help us reach every voter? Your donation will help us to ensure victory on November 2, 2010.

Don’t forget to help spread the word and punch #78 for Cook County Commissioner.
